When discussing trades, teams should keep those discussions behind closed doors. There is a lot that can go wrong when trade talks are leaked, such as a team’s leverage disappearing or their offer needing to increase from fake leaks. There are also the feelings of the players involved.

The NBA is a business, but at the end of the day, these are still humans. They have feelings too and when they are included in public trade talks things can be awkward.

Trading Malcolm Brogdon at this point might have to happen because he knows the team has already been shopping him.

The first reported trade offer to the Philadelphia 76ers centered around Ben Simmons came from the Pacers. Indiana reportedly offered Brogdon and the No. 13 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft but the offer was declined.

Knowing you were offered in a trade and coming back to the team could create some tense situations. Brogdon at least has a teammate, for now, in Myles Turner that has dealt with it so he can ask him how to handle what comes from being involved in NBA trade rumors not remaining with the organization that was looking to trade you.
