The front office of the Trail Blazers has failed him
Damian Lillard was recently quoted for saying that the Trail Blazers weren’t able to land any of the free agents they desired this offseason. That isn’t a new occurrence for Lillard as Portland has constantly fallen short of putting together a contending roster around the Weber State product.
Aside from CJ McCollum, Lillard has never had another player to consistently lean on. And even the pairing with McCollum has proven to be incapable of going deep in the playoffs.
Yes, I understand that Lillard wants to be loyal to the organization that took a chance on him. But there has to be a breaking point for Lillard where he realizes that the front office isn’t doing nearly enough to put him in the best position to succeed.
Giannis Antetokounmpo just won a title by putting his trust into the Milwaukee Bucks to do right by him, but they also signed Khris Middleton years ago and traded for Jrue Holiday while surrounding him with capable role players.

The same can’t be said for Lillard as the Trail Blazers’ biggest additions this offseason are Cody Zeller and Tony Snell.
