Shouldn’t waste his prime on a Western Conference team that can’t win
There’s no doubt that Damian Lillard has cemented himself as one of the premier point guards in the NBA.
Lillard has posted 25+ points and 5+ assists in the last six seasons, and he’s easily one of the best shooters from beyond the arc in the league, rivaling Stephen Curry with his deep shots from near half-court.
While Lillard turned 31 years old in July, he still is amid his prime in the NBA, and he shouldn’t continue wasting his prime on a team that isn’t capable of winning in the Western Conference.
Just this past season, the Trail Blazers were unable to advance beyond the first round of the playoffs despite facing a shorthanded Denver Nuggets squad that was sans Jamal Murray.

Seeing that teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns, the Golden State Warriors, and the Nuggets — among others — could compete for the No. 1 seed in the West, Portland isn’t in a position to be a legitimate contender.
The clock is ticking for Lillard to win a championship while he’s one of the league’s top-tier point guards.
