2. Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers could be in the market for a new point guard. Ben Simmons and the organization look to have an irreparable relationship, which will result in him being traded away this offseason.
The Toronto Raptors are one team that the team has engaged in trade talks with centered on Simmons. The original offer from the 76ers was declined, as they asked for Kyle Lowry to be signed-and-traded, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby and the No. 4 pick in exchange for Simmons.
While they were unable to land VanVleet in that scenario, they could look into getting him again down the road. If Simmons is traded, especially to a team such as the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers is going to need a new starting point guard. With the assets they get from the Simmons deal, they could flip some of them to Toronto for VanVleet.
VanVleet would be an excellent fit in the starting lineup for the 76ers. He would provide them with that third scoring option they are lacking, as he can create offense for himself and others. In addition to that, the drop-off defensively wouldn’t be as steep as some would think.

While he isn’t on the All-Defensive Team level that Simmons is, VanVleet can also hold his own defensively. He has the foot speed to keep up with pressuring opponents all over the court and the size and strength to hold his own in the halfcourt. In some scenarios, he can defend wing players, giving Doc Rivers some flexibility in lineup configurations.
