3. Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have done a good job of adding some 3-point shooting around star Luka Doncic. That will help open up things on offense for him to operate, whether that is attacking the basket looking to score or creating for his teammates.
But, there is one thing the Mavericks did not yet accomplish this offseason; finding a secondary ball-handler to play alongside Doncic. There have been rumors that they are hoping the Toronto Raptors will eventually release Goran Dragic, who was acquired in the Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade.
The Mavericks haven’t been talks of that occurring yet. But, if Dallas does not want to trade for Dragic, they should look into one of his new teammates in Fred VanVleet.
VanVleet would fit in perfectly alongside Doncic in the backcourt. He would fit the bill as a secondary ball-handler, taking a lot of pressure off of the Slovenian superstar. VanVleet’s playmaking and 3-point shooting would take even more pressure off of Doncic, as he was too often the only player capable of creating offense last season.

The price to acquire VanVleet would be steep, but the Mavericks need to be aggressive in upgrading the roster as Kristaps Porzingis has not provided the consistent impact they had hoped for.
