1. Evan Fournier & Derrick Rose, New York Knicks
Is anyone really surprised to see the New York Knicks on this list? And it is hard to pick just one deal that can be pointed out here. New York traded out of the 19th spot during the 2021 NBA Draft and down from No. 21. It was a confusing strategy on draft night and looks even worse now that free agency has begun.
The big move for the Knicks was signing Evan Fournier to a four-year, $78-million contract. Fournier is a nice player that can score from all three levels and create his own shot, but he is not the star name that the Knicks needed to get over the hump.
At this point, It is unknown where their next move could be coming from. New York made it a priority to add some of their role players from last season but handed out some big numbers to the likes of Derrick Rose and Nerlens Noel.
Both sign three-year deals for large numbers. This is money that could have been used for the Knicks to land that starting point guard that has been needed for years.

The Knicks made up for their previous signings a bit by signing Kemba Walker after he received a contract buyout from the Oklahoma City Thunder. New York is only having to pay him $8 million for the 2021-22 NBA season, but regardless, Fournier and Rose deals were questionable.
