Does this trade make sense for the San Antonio Spurs?
Seeing as the Spurs signed both Zach Collins and Doug McDermott this offseason, they should absolutely look to move Thaddeus Young. He is entering the final year of his contract and would not remain with the Spurs past the 2021-22 season anyways, so there is no reason San Antonio should not look to trade their newly acquired big man.
Jarrett Culver has been held off the court due to injuries over the years, but he still possesses a lot of potential as a 22-year-old shooting guard. If he can be on the court, he could actually turn into an impressive, athletic guard that could wind up being a key factor on San Antonio’s bench.
With other guys like Lonnie Walker IV, Derrick White and newly drafted Josh Primo at the shooting guard position, there would not be immediate pressure on Culver and he could take his time getting used to his new team in San Antonio. The worst thing that happens for the Spurs is that he remains a bust and does not do anything during the 2021-22 season, in which they would hold a team option on his contract for the 2022-23 season and could waive him in the offseason at no expense.
This is a no-risk, high-reward play for the Spurs, which is why they should absolutely consider trading Thad Young to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 2025 second-round picks may not mean much now, but the 2022 second-round pick could definitely be utilized by the Spurs to help them grow their young core moving forward.

There really is nothing not to like about this deal, other than the fact that they do not get a first-round pick, but the Spurs are likely not going to get this kind of offer from a team for Thaddeus Young if the Bulls could not either. Getting Culver and two second-round picks for Young is fair value and definitely a move the Spurs should consider making.
