Golden State Warriors Receive: G/F Buddy Hield

Now this would certainly be a monumental move for the Golden State Warriors not just roster-wise, but salary wise as well. Adding another $20M+ contract to their roster would put the Warriors close to $200M in payroll for the 2021-22 season, which is absurd to think about! The amount of money they would have to pay in taxes would be ridiculous, but if any team could pull this off, it would be the Golden State Warriors.

For his career, Buddy Hield has shot 40.6% from three-point range and adding him to this Warriors offense with Steph and Klay would be almost unfair for other teams to try and guard. Each of these three guys are some of the best perimeter players in the league and there is no way a team would be able to turn their attention to all three of these guys. Somebody would wind up being left open and if they are all guarded, then the Warriors have both Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins to finish off possessions.

A deal like this is unlikely to happen due to salary restraints and the fact that the Warriors tax bill would be the highest ever recorded in the history of the NBA, but again, something like this is do-able if Golden State is willing to pay up.

Sacramento has been looking to move Buddy Hield for the last year and they thought they had a deal in place with the Los Angeles Lakers, but then the Lakers traded for Russell Westbrook instead. Moving his contract for another $20M+ contract like Kelly Oubre Jr.’s does not sound too ideal, but then again, Oubre Jr. is a versatile, athletic guy that can play a handful of positions.

Not to mention, Oubre Jr. would fit in nicely with De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton and Davion Mitchell, all of which can push the pace in transition. Getting something out of a sign-and-trade for Kelly Oubre Jr. would be huge for the Warriors this offseason and there would be no better player to fit their system than Buddy Hield.

It would cost them a lot of money to make something like this happen, but in the end, you need talent to win championships! Let’s take a look at if this move makes sense for both the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors.
