Does this move make sense for the Toronto Raptors?
Seeing as Toronto is likely going to be losing Kyle Lowry in free agency, they might as well try to get a sign-and-trade deal done for him so they can get something out of losing him. Not trading him at the trade deadline this past season was a big mistake, especially since they have a great offer on the table from the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat for him.
Getting Dragic likely would result in him being bought out, as stated earlier, but Precious Achiuwa is a young, athletic big man with a lot of potential as a rim-runner for years to come. At 6’8”, he is primarily viewed as a power-forward, but Achiuwa could be used as a smaller center with the Toronto Raptors given his ability to protect the rim and be a big body rebounding.
He has been playing well with Team Nigeria in the Olympics this year and moving forward, the young big man has a chance to be a special player if he is traded to Toronto. The future of Pascal Siakam is also a big unknown right now, so he could create a versatile and dynamic frontcourt of the future moving forward with #4 overall pick Scottie Barnes.
Toronto seems to be on the verge of a rebuild this NBA offseason and will be a team to watch in trade rumors, but they have a lot of pieces already in place. Fred VanVleet is going to be their leader in the backcourt at 27-years-old, OG Anunoby is only 24-years-old and Malachi Flynn, Scottie Barnes and Gary Trent Jr. are all young pieces that they can build with moving forward.

The Raptors won their first ever championship in 2019, but they will likely not be competing for another championship for a couple of years. They do still have some talent on their roster, but it seems like this franchise is trending towards a small rebuild.
