Miami Heat Receive: G Kyle Lowry
Toronto Raptors Receive: G Goran Dragic, F Precious Achiuwa

Getting Kyle Lowry is a lot more simple than you would first imagine for the Miami Heat, especially given the latest developments in rumors ahead of NBA free agency. Agreeing to a $25M-$30M deal is definitely another big contract for Miami to absorb, but moving Dragic and his $19.4M contract makes things a lot simpler.

Not to mention, the Torotno Raptors need more frontcourt help, which is why they could be interested in Precious Achiuwa over Tyler Herro. The Heat are high on both of their young players, but they much rather give up Achiuwa over Herro, especially in a deal for Kyle Lowry.

Right now Toronto has Pascal Siakam, Chris Boucher, Aron Baynes and rookie Scottie Barnes on their roster, but both Boucher and Baynes have non-guaranteed deals and Toronto could look to waive both of these guys. Getting more young, athletic frontcourt help is a must for the Raptors moving forward and Achiuwa would fit right in given his ability to be an impactful shot-blocker at either the power-forward or center position.

Getting Goran Dragic is also a really solid “consolation prize” for losing Kyle Lowry, but he may not stay too long in Toronto if he is traded. It is a lot for the Raptors to absorb, but a buyout agreement could very well be in place for Dragic should he be traded to the Raptors. Toronto has Malachi Flynn and Fred VanVleet in their backcourt already, so they may not want to take on Dragic’s large contract.

A future first-round draft pick could also be included in this deal for Kyle Lowry via sign-and-trade, but then again, the Heat may be able to say that they are giving up enough for a player that wants to come play for them. Sign-and-trade deals are always difficult to figure out details-wise, so you just really never know what is going to be included.

Right now, Kyle Lowry and the Miami Heat seems like a marriage that is going to happen, so let’s dive in and take a look at if this move makes sense for not only Miami, but the Toronto Raptors as well.
