Does this trade make sense for the New Orleans Pelicans?
A major rumor in the offseason has been that Zion Williamson and his family are unhappy with the current situation in New Orleans. This has made the Pelicans front office nervous about his status long-term with the franchise.
Williamson is clearly a player that the Pelicans want to keep in town given how quick he has proven to be in elite player.
If this is the case, it makes sense for New Orleans to try and add as many pieces around him as possible. Brandon Ingram is already signed long term and is another name that has been thrown around in trade rumors because of the return they would get. Instead, Lonzo Ball appears to be the easier trade piece.
Coby White is a young point guard who has shown promise. He has played important minutes for the Bulls and been able to contribute at a high-level. He could be the improvement at the top of the offense that the team is looking for.

The Pelicans improved this season but were still not good enough to make a run at the playoffs. This is the ultimate goal and something at the front office needs to be working on immediately.
