2. Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers have to make a move this offseason. While Damian Lillard has said that he has not requested a trade, the team could still decide to move him if they believe it is the best course of action going forward for the organization.

As an All-NBA performer, the Trail Blazers are unlikely to trade Lillard unless they have to. A likelier occurrence this offseason is that his backcourt mate, CJ McCollum, is traded away.

Portland has to do something to shake up their roster. They have been eliminated from the postseason in the first round in four out of the last five years. That just won’t cut it, and trading McCollum is the quickest way to reshaping and retooling the roster.

Several teams could use the presence of an efficient, three-level scorer such as CJ McCollum. The Philadelphia 76ers would certainly love to have him and the Boston Celtics could also use another scoring threat alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

The Dallas Mavericks would also present an excellent landing spot for CJ McCollum. They need to start upgrading their roster around Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis has proved to be an inconsistent sidekick. The Mavericks could also be in the market for a scoring guard with Tim Hardaway Jr. a free agent and Josh Richardson already being traded to the Celtics.
