San Antonio Spurs Receive: F John Collins (via sign-and-trade)
Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Derrick White, G Tre Jones
The Atlanta Hawks do not have many needs as a team, but they do need to sort things out in their backcourt. Trae Young is their only true ball-handler, which is why Atlanta will be looking to add another guard to aid them this offseason.
In this sign-and-trade involving John Collins, the Hawks would not only get a young point guard in Tre Jones, but they would also get an established combo-guard in Derrick White who was considered to be one of the biggest breakout candidates of the 2020-21 season, but he missed a lot of time early on in the year with an ankle injury.
However, in 36 games, White still put together the best year of his career, averaging 15.4 points, 3.5 assists and shooting 34.6% from three-point range. At 27-years-old and under contract through the 2024-25 season, Derrick White may not be the most favorable guy for the Hawks to bring in, but talent-wise, he is everything they need.
For the Spurs, bringing in John Collins adds onto their stockpile of athletic young talents. Dejounte Murray, Lonnie Walker IV and Keldon Johnson and all versatile players and all of them possess above-average athleticism for their positions.

If they were to lose DeMar DeRozan in free agency, the Spurs would have an immediate need for a strong power-forward, which is why they could look to pursue John Collins. He can score, rebound and is constantly improving, which is why he could be of use to San Antonio moving forward.
The only catch to this trade is that both teams do like their respective young talents and will definitely be hesitant about giving them up. Atlanta loves John Collins in their frontcourt and the Spurs view Derrick White as one of their better overall players, so does this trade really make sense for both of them?
