1. PG Jared Butler, Baylor
As we highlighted with the first two prospects, the Lakers need backcourt help and 3-point shooting. So, why not get it all in one player with Baylor point guard, Jared Butler.
His backcourt mate, Davion Mitchell, is receiving a lot of interest from teams near the end of the lottery, but Butler should not be forgotten. He is two years younger than Mitchell and has the size to play both backcourt spots.
Butler is a pesky defender, getting into the passing lanes to disrupt the opponent’s offenses. On offense, he can facilitate or be used as a go-to scorer. His 3-point shooting prowess would be welcomed with open arms in Los Angeles, as he knocked down 41.6 percent of his attempts last season.
The Reserve, Louisiana native knows what it takes to win, as he helped Baylor win the National Championship in 2021.

Having that kind of experience will help, as the Lakers have title aspirations and need players that won’t crumble when the lights get bright.
