PG Ayo Dosunmu, Illinois
When it comes to the NBA Draft, age is sometimes used as a knock against prospects. Teams would rather take a shot on developing a player who is 19 years old instead of taking someone ready to help contribute right away that may be 22-years old. That is the conundrum when it comes to Illinois point guard, Ayo Dosunmu.
Dosunmu is one of the oldest projected first-round picks in this year’s draft class despite being only 21 and not turning 22 until January. However, as a projected late first-round pick, a contending team will be getting a player that can help instantly.
Dosunmu has seen his game come along very well. He stuffed the stat sheet as a junior, averaging 20.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. He was a three-level scorer and projects to be a very good combo guard at the next level. His ability to play either as the lead guard or off the ball as a go-to scoring option in college should translate well to the next level.

Standing 6’5 with a 6’10.25 wingspan, Dosunmu can defend either backcourt position and will be able to defend most wing players as well once he continues to fill out. He will be a good two-way player and should be part of someone’s rotation right from the start of his career.
As an older player, he will be able and ready to contribute right away.
