For what feels like forever, the New York Knicks have been looking for a long-term answer at the point guard position. It has long been a thorn in the side of the organization, but this NBA offseason the options are plentiful.

New York has the assets to acquire a point guard this offseason. They have ample cap space, so they can afford to sign one even if it requires a max deal. There are extra first-round draft picks at their disposal from the Dallas Mavericks courtesy of the Kristaps Porzingis trade if they want to go the trade route.

If the Knicks go down the trade route, Damian Lillard is the player many fans want. However, the price tag for him would be substantial and the Knicks aren’t one superstar player away from being title contenders. Instead, they should aim a little lower if they want to make a trade and save some of their assets for another day.

One player they could target is Collin Sexton of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers have reportedly made Sexton ‘very available’ according to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic as they do not want to hand Sexton an extension worth what he believes he should be paid.
