Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
Keeping their current roster and giving them one more chance to prove that they are special when fully healthy is definitely in play for the Pacers, but it seems more likely that they will be looking to move one of their main pieces in the offseason for more assets.
Out of all of the players on their roster, Myles Turner seems like the most likely player to be moved because he is expendable offensively and because he has been linked to several trade rumors over the last year-and-a-half or so.
Getting Jaxson Hayes for Turner gives the Pacers a young, athletic center to work with for the future and while they would be taking on Eric Bledsoe’s big contract, he could give them a lift in the second-unit in their backcourt. Bledsoe is an experienced, veteran guard and could actually make sense for the Pacers to add given their system and lack of backcourt talent.

As for the draft picks they get in this trade, this deal would set the Pacers up for a lot of success to build a young core around their current talent. With both of their first-round picks in 2021 and 2022, as well as the two picks they get from the Pelicans in this trade, the Pacers would have a total of four first-round picks and three second-round picks over the next two seasons.
This is a great return for the Pacers if they were to trade Myles Turner and quite honestly, this may be one of the better returns they can get from a team if they were to trade their defensive-minded center in the offseason.
Trading Myles Turner to the Pelicans may not be that bad of an idea for the Pacers, especially if they can get Jaxson Hayes and the draft compensation that is outlined in this trade proposal above.
