Does this trade make sense for the New Orleans Pelicans?
Even though they would still have Steven Adams and would be paying him roughly $35M through the 2022-23 season, the addition of Myles Turner is much needed for the Pelicans, which is why this deal makes complete sense.
Trading away Jaxson Hayes for Myles Turner is an upgrade for the Pels and dumping Eric Bledsoe would be a major win for them since he is owed $37.5M through the 2022-23 season, with the final year of his contract being partially-guaranteed for $3.9M.
Jeremy Lamb is in a similar position financially where he is not worth the $10.5M he is being paid next season, but he is only under contract for one more year and was effective this year when healthy, averaging 10.1 points per game and shooting 40.6% from three-point range.

Given their stash of draft picks and a lot of young talent on their roster, the Pelicans could definitely pull off one of the blockbuster trades of the summer this offseason, which is why they should go hard at Myles Turner. He is the perfect fit in their system given his ability to play pick-and-roll basketball and given his shot-blocking abilities, he could be the anchor for them defensively.
Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball and Nickeil Alexander-Walker are all 23-years-old or younger and with Myles Turner being 25-years-old, he would fit right in in terms of age and experience with the Pelicans young core.
While they would be giving up a lot of draft compensation with two first-round picks over the next two years, adding Myles Turner should be enough to push the Pelicans into the playoffs next year. However, they would still need to find another key talent to add to their roster in order to become a true contender in the Western Conference.
