The Need For A Point Guard

Depending on how things shake out for the Miami Heat this offseason, they could be in desperate need of some point guard help. Both of the team’s point guards from the last few seasons, Goran Dragic and Kendrick Nunn, could be elsewhere next offseason.

Dragic could be a cap casualty as the Heat look to upgrade their roster. Picking up his option worth over $19 million would be difficult if they want to add an impact player from outside the team in free agency.

The only real reason that option would be picked up would be to facilitate a trade for a bigger contract.

Nunn looks like he will be on the way out as a restricted free agent. Miami will be hard-pressed to keep him and Duncan Robinson, another restricted free agent if they receive lucrative offer sheets. Of the two, Robinson is likely to be prioritized.

Adding Derrick Rose would provide the Heat with a sigh of relief as they would know they have a veteran capable of holding things down. While not an ideal scenario, Rose did show that he can handle starter’s minutes during the postseason with the Knicks.
