Does this trade make sense for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
Deciding who to keep and who to get rid of is going to be a huge decision for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ front-office to make this offseason, but it would definitely be in their best interest to keep Collin Sexton over Jarrett Allen if they are not going to pay both of them.
Sexton has been constantly improving as an all-around offensive talent through the years and their backcourt duo of Sexton and Garland is one of the better, young backcourt duos in the entire league.
Jarrett Allen is a really good, young center, but replacing him with Evan Mobley, assuming the Cavs can draft him 3rd overall, would save the Cavaliers money and give them a player with more overall upside to grow into an All-Star talent.
If this is what Cleveland believes in, then yes, this trade with the Hornets definitely makes sense for them. They would not only be able to gain value from Allen, but they would also be replacing him with a young talent that has one of the best upsides in this year’s draft class.

Keeping Collin Sexton over Jarrett Allen seems like the smartest move for the Cleveland Cavaliers to make this offseason, which is why the Cavs should look to execute a sign-and-trade for whoever wants to sign Jarret Allen this offseason. It is a win-win scenario for them and the Cavaliers really have nothing to lose by potentially replacing Allen with Mobley.
