Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks need to be aggressive this offseason upgrading their roster around Luka Doncic. It is possible that this is the last offseason they will have significant cap space for the foreseeable future so they have to make it count.

Acquiring a scorer of CJ McCollum’s caliber is something the Mavericks need. Kristaps Porzingis has proven to be an inconsistent sidekick for Doncic and the team needs someone they can count on night in and night out to help him carry the offense.

The variety in which McCollum can score the ball would be helpful for the Mavericks, as he can space the floor off-ball with his 39.8 career 3-point shooting or create for himself with the ball in his hands.

The former Lehigh product has also proven he can run an offense for periods of time, giving the Mavericks a second playmaking alongside Doncic they have lacked.

The Mavericks doesn’t have a draft pick they can offer until 2025 because of the Porzingis trade with the Knicks, so he could be part of a package back to Portland. Jalen Brunson and Josh Green are two younger players that could be of interest to the Trail Blazers as well or defensive-minded wing Dorian Finney-Smith.
