Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?

Making the money work is obviously the biggest problem the Celtics have this offseason, but if they are willing to go over the hard cap to put together a real championship contending roster, then this trade makes complete sense for them. Bringing in Bledsoe and his contract definitely hurts Boston financially, but he does bring upside with him as a player. 

Bledsoe shot 34.1% from three-point range this past season and for his career, he has averaged 14.0 points per game. Boston needs more guys who can score besides just Brown and Tatum, which is why this trade makes sense for them. 

Tristan Thompson doesn’t really offer much to the Celtics, especially since they just acquired Moses Brown and Al Horford. If he remains on this roster, his minutes will continue to get cut down ,especially since he is not much of a factor/shooter on offense at the center position. Both Williams and Brown are not shooters either, but we will likely see Boston go small at times with Al Horford playing the center position, allowing the Celtics to have more shooters and scorers on the floor next to Tatum and Brown. 

Really, the Boston Celtics would not be trading anything of value to them, especially since Romeo Langford always seems to be injured too. After being drafted 14th overall in 2019, Langford has played in just 50 games and has been very underwhelming. There is potential for him to grow into a decent two-way threat, but the Celtics would not really lose anything by trading away Romeo Langford in this deal.

Thompson and Langford do not really make the Celtics a better team, nor do two future second-round picks, which is why this trade for Eric Bledsoe makes sense. Money-wise, this trade will cost the Celtics a lot, but this is definitely a move that could give them that extra little bit of talent they need to make the NBA Finals in the Eastern Conference.
