From championship contender to being swept in the first-round, the last few years have really been unkind to the Boston Celtics. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both emerging as All-Star talents has definitely been a plus for them, but overall, the last several seasons have been disappointments for the Celtics as an organization given all that they have done to try and make this team a true NBA title contender.

They came close to making the NBA Finals in 2017, 2018 and then in 2020, making the Eastern Conference Finals all of these years, but they were never able to break through and make it back to The Finals.

As a result, Boston moved on from long-term executive Danny Ainge this offseason and replaced him with Brad Stevens, who had been the Celtics head coach for the last eight seasons.

Boston has already made a big move this offseason by trading Kemba Walker, their first-round picks this year and a 2025 second-round pick to the OKC Thunder in exchange for Al Horford, Moses Brown and a 2023 second-round round pick, but the Celtics could find themselves a part of another deal this offseason.

It was mentioned recently in NBA trade rumors that he New Orleans Pelicans are expected to look to trade Eric Bledsoe this offseason, according to William Guillory and Sam Vecenie of The Athletic, so could the Celtics show interest in the veteran guard?

Given their cap situation, taking on Bledsoe’s contract does not seem reasonable, especially since the Celtics want to re-sign Evan Fournier in free agency, but there is actually a scenario in which they could make this trade work.

After all, the Celtics do have an opening in their backcourt since they traded away Kemba Walker, so could they actually look to bring in Eric Bledsoe to pair with Marcus Smart in the backcourt? Let’s take a look at how Boston could possibly make this trade with New Orleans work.
