Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?

The Kings literally have nothing to lose, so they might as well offer up anything but De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton for Domantas Sabonis. This team is used to missing the playoffs anyways, so they might as well trade everything away for a chance to win with Sabonis.

After finishing with a 31-41 record in back-to-back seasons, it sounds crazy to say but the Kings actually are not far off from possibly sneaking into the play-in tournament in the Western Conference. Fox has turned himself into a borderline All-Star talent and with other contributors in Barnes, Hield and Holmes, Sacramento has everything they need to be competitive, they just need more overall talent.

Bringing Richaun Holmes back is a priority for the Kings this offseason, but so is finding more reliable bench talents. Having Delon Wright as their “sixth-man” is a plus for the Kings, but they need to use any remaining cap space after re-signing Holmes to target bench depth.

Having the 9th overall pick definitely helps the Kings, but in the end, they cannot put all of their faith in a rookie to set them over the edge. With free agency being weak this year, the Kings definitely have a chance to sign some key contributors to smaller contracts, but they have to be willing to spend some money to get back to the playoffs.

If they offer this trade to Indiana and they accept it for whatever reason, then this would be great for the Kings, but it is not going to happen. They will not be getting Domantas Sabonis for anything they have, which is why their focus needs to be on finding ways to improve their current roster and adding talent to their bench.
