Sacramento Kings Receive: F/C Domantas Sabonis
Indiana Pacers Receive: F Harrison Barnes, G Delon Wright, SAC 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #9), SAC 2021 2nd Round Pick (Pick #39)
The year 2006 has become a very big year in Sacramento Kings history because this was the last time they were in the playoffs. For 15 years now, the Kings have finished with a losing record during the regular season and have constantly been deemed the “laughing stock” of the NBA.
While they do have De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton as a young, talented backcourt duo, this Kings team is still way away from being anything special, which is why they will be open for business this offseason. Finding ways to add more talent to their roster is a must, which is why the Kings could go “all-in” on the idea of trading for Sabonis if he is made available.
Harrison Barnes is now 29-years-old, but he is still a high-level combo-forward that is more than capable of being one of his team’s main contributors. This past season, Barnes played in 58 games for Sacramento and averaged 16.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and shot 39.1% from three-point range. He was a name that was mentioned in some trade rumors and will be one to watch in the NBA offseason.
Delon Wright is another interesting name that appears in this trade. The 29-year-old combo-guard was traded from the Detroit Pistons to the Sacramento Kings at the trade deadline this past season and played really well over the course of the 2020-21 season. He averaged 10.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and shot 37.2% from three-point range, exactly the kind of player the Pacers need to add to their backcourt.

Pursuing another big man could very much be in the Kings plans this offseason because of the fact that Richaun Holmes is an unrestricted free agent that may already have one foot out the door in Sacramento. This is why pursuing Domantas Sabonis would be important for the Kings and why they may be willing to part with numerous valuable assets to acquire him.
However, does this trade really benefit the Indiana Pacers, especially since Sabonis is arguably their best player? Let’s take a look at if this trade makes sense for both teams involved.
