#1 New York Knicks
Nerlens Noel already has a solidified role in New York’s system and was a major reason why they were the fourth best team in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, so why would he want to leave the Knicks?
Not to mention, the fan base loves him and Tom Thibodeau believes in Nerlens Noel’s abilities to be a starting center for them. The presence of Mitchell Robinson is definitely something to keep an eye on in regards to the kNicks this offseason because keeping him and Noel may not be something that is possible.
From a managerial standpoint, the Knicks would love to keep both big guys, but this team also proved this year that they do not need Robinson in the frontcourt to win. The Knicks played really well with Noel as their starting center instead of Mitchell Robinson, which is why they could look to trade Robinson in the offseason.
While this is definitely an option, bringing back Nerlens Noel is a “must” for the New York Knicks because of what he does defensively for them. His blocked shots directly correlated to them being one of the league’s top defensive teams during the regular season and this will continue to be a point of emphasis for them heading into next season.

The Knicks are not a strong offensive team and they know this, which is why a role player like Nerlens Noel is so important for them. Being able to create second-chance points on offense and chase down an opponent for a block on defense is invaluable for Tom Thibodeau’s squad, which is why the Knicks would actually be worse on the interior if they do not re-sign Nerlens Noel.
Spending a few extra millions to keep him around could greatly benefit the Knicks and help make them an actual threat in the playoffs moving forward.
