Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?

In terms of chasing more championships and trying to get the most value out of trading James Wiseman, this trade does make sense for the Golden State Warriors, but it could really cost them. Having the 7th and 14th picks in this year’s draft gives the Warriors two chances to add two highly talented young players to add onto their core.

Not to mention, they already have a really strong foundation for a young core with Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, these two first-round picks and both Jordan Poole and Juan Toscano-Anderson.

The future is bright for the Golden State Warriors, but right now, their front-office is focused on finding ways to make sure this team can contend for a title right now. Bringing in Christian Wood is definitely a move that would help them contend for a title and for this price, is actually not that bad of a trade for the Warriors both now and long-term.

Wood proved this past season that he can be an effective scorer on the offensive-end of the court at either the power-forward or center positions and the fact that he is only 25-years-old would be a major plus for the Warriors to build with him next to Andrew Wiggin and the rest of their young players.

Losing the 14th pick is not ideal for the Warriors, but again, they would still have the 7th pick in the draft and could wind up with one of the better players in the 2021 NBA Draft still. Houston may want the 7th pick instead, but this deal for Christian Wood outlined above definitely makes sense for the Warriors, even if they do lose Wiseman in the process.
