Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
The Washington Wizards acquired Russell Westbrook before the 2020-21 season when they sent John Wall to the Houston Rockets. This said they rebuild and to another gear but Westbrook and be aware able to lead Washington to the postseason.
The clear right answer is to sell, but Bradley Beal could end up making that decision for them if he were to ask to be traded. The Wizards has a lot of work to do if they want to get to a championship level. It is unlikely that Westbrook is going to be in town when that happens.
At this point in his career, Westbrook still has great value in to be sent away for some younger options. The strong production he displayed toward the end of the regular season more than restored reason for confidence in his impact.
Coby White will lead the return and could take over the point-guard position for years to come in Washington. Whatever happened with Beal is up in the air, but Westbrook seems to be the main trade piece of the team right now.
