New York Knicks Receive: G Lonzo Ball
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: F Obi Toppin, G Immanuel Quickley, 2021 first-round pick (via DAL)
The New York Knicks are among the select few teams that could afford to sign Ball with no need of going through with a sign-and-trade. However, maybe New York does business with New Orleans to ensure they are able to land the 23-year-old point guard.
While the Knicks don’t have many players under contract, they do have a couple of young players that could interest the Pelicans.
Obi Toppin and Immanuel Quickley, along with one of their two first-round picks in this year’s draft, could be enough to finalize a sign-and-trade for Ball.
Toppin saw a small role with the Knicks this season as he was buried behind Julius Randle and Taj Gibson on the depth chart. Still, in his rookie season, there were flashes of potential as a stretch-four in the NBA.

As for Quickley, the exciting young point guard provided much-needed sparks off of the bench when he was needed. Getting Quickley to replace Ball or as a sixth-man for the future could convince the Pelicans to complete the trade.
