Damian Lillard

If the New Orleans Pelicans want to unload their cache of draft picks for an instant star upgrade, Damian Lillard presents the best option. Lillard hasn’t requested a trade yet, but if he does, the Pelicans should be aggressive in pursuing him.

Damian Lillard would be a great addition to New Orleans with his long-range shooting, which would open up ample space for Zion Williamson to work on the interior. Imagine having to decide between double-teaming Lillard 30-feet away from the basket or Williamson only 5-feet from the rim?

The price to acquire Lillard would be substantial, but the Pelicans can afford it. They have to do everything in their power to make Williamson happy and acquiring a player of Lillard’s stature should accomplish that.

Fitting Damian Lillard’s $40 million contract won’t be easy, but the Pelicans could put Brandon Ingram and his $29 million on the table along with Eric Bledsoe or Steven Adams.
