Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
The Boston Celtics were an unimpressive team from the start this season. They dealt with some injuries and inconsistent play early on that they were never able to turn around. Boston proved good enough to make the postseason but in a weak Eastern Conference, that is not enough.
That is where some moves could be on the horizon for the franchise. It could begin in the frontcourt but if the Celtics want to continue to improve the perimeter, D’Angelo Russell could be a trade option.
He has experience playing the point-guard position, which is something that the Celtics need. Kemba Walker was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder and this left a hole at the top of the offense.
Russell could take over and give Boston a legitimate threat to go with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Having another versatile pick-and-roll ball handler that can get a bucket out of isolation would be a great way to keep pace with some of the NBA’s elite offenses.

Boston is still in win-now mode and a player like Russell could keep them there. It will be interesting to see how Stevens navigates his first offseason in the front office.
