Weakens A Division Rival
The New York Knicks are on the come-up. With Tom Thibodeau on the sidelines and Leon Rose and William Wesley running the front office, things are finally turning around in the Big Apple.
That is bad news for the Boston Celtics, who finished behind the Knicks this season despite having what many would consider a more formidable roster. One way to slow that down would be signing Derrick Rose away.
While it will not be easy, as Rose loves New York City and playing for Tom Thibodeau, the Celtics have to at least try and make it happen.
With Rose in the lineup in the regular season, the Knicks went 24-10. He averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. He was extremely efficient in scoring the ball, as he made 48.7 percent of his shot attempts, 41.1 percent of his 3-pointers and 88.3 percent of his foul shots.

While the Knicks have plenty of cap space to sign another point guard this offseason, losing someone like Rose would hurt. He brought a lot to the team, as he was a great mentor for the younger players in addition to his performance on the court. Losing him in free agency, especially to the Celtics, would hurt.
