Golden State Warriors Receive: G Damian Lillard
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F Andrew Wiggins, C James Wiseman, MIN 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick No. 7), GSW 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick No. 14), GSW 2022 2nd Round Pick, GSW 2023 1st Round Pick (Top-4 Protected)

The final trade proposal the Golden State Warriors could send to the Blazers once again revolves around both Wiggins and Wiseman, but in this trade compared to the first trade proposal, the Warriors would be sending two first-round picks this year, a 2023 first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick to Portland instead of Eric Paschall.

Basically, this deal is the trade proposal that has been floating around in regards to Golden State being linked to Damian Lillard, as well as a second-rounder in 2022 and a first-rounder in 2023 being added to the deal. In terms of only trading Lillard and wanting draft picks, the Blazers could actually have their pick in what draft picks they would want from Golden State.

The Warriors trading away a 2024 first-round pick to Memphis a few years back with Top-4 protection on it has kind of tied down Golden State’s 2025 and 2026 first-round picks, but the Warriors still own the rights to 11 total draft picks through the 2027 NBA Draft, giving them options on what to offer to the Trail Blazers.

Golden State has done their “do-diligence” in regards to reaching out to Portland and talking about Damian Lillard, according to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, but there does not seem to be any deals that are imminent. As many would expect, Portland is going to take their time in sorting out this Damian Lillard situation and they are going to do everything they can to keep their All-Star guard.

Time and time again, Lillard has stated that he wants to win in Portland and bring a championship to the city of Portland, but there has been vast speculation that he has begun questioning this philosophy. Can the Trail Blazers actually win a championship over the next few years?

They have consistently been in the playoffs and have been trying to grow on their previous year’s success, but they have now been surpassed by the likes of the Suns, Jazz and Nuggets, which is not good news for their hopes of contending for a title.

Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum cannot do this on their own, which is why Portland will likely try to add another star-caliber player to their roster in the offseason. However, they really do not have many assets they can offer up in trade scenarios, which is why the Trail Blazers are kind of stuck in terms of trying to add talent to their roster.

The best days of the Trail Blazers as we have known them over the last few years may be coming to an end, as Damian Lillard’s future with the team is very uncertain at the moment. Who knows if they will actually trade him, but things are not looking good for the Blazers.
