Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
As mentioned before, pairing Porzingis with Russell Westbrook definitely opens up the floor a lot more, especially because Kristaps Porzingis has been known to knock down three-point shots in volume at the center position, but this trade really does not do anything for Washington’s chances of being great.
Unless Bradley Beal actually comes out and says he wants to be traded, they should not want to get rid of him. Beal has posted back-to-back seasons averaging 30+ points per game, joining a list with player like Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Allen Iverson, Adrian Dantley, Jerry West, James Harden, Kobe Bryant, Bob McAdoo, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor and Rick Barry as the only players in NBA history who averaged 30+ points in back-to-back seasons.
That is a pretty remarkable list of basketball players to be named amongst, which is why Washington would be foolish to trade Bradley Beal for literally anything that is offered to them. Unless they are getting Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant or Stephen Curry in a trade, there really is no reason to trade Beal because he is on the same level as these guys in terms of being one of the best players in the league.
There really is no immediate value that Washington gets from this trade with Dallas, which is why they would deny this trade proposal in a heartbeat. Whether you believe it or not, the Washington Wizards feel like they have a very good shot to contend in the Eastern Conference with Westbrook and Beal, which is why they will not give up on this duo after just one year.

They both played really well next to one another and the Wizards truly could just be one key talent away from being a team that reaches the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Whether or not they can contend for a title with Westbrook and Beal is yet to be seen, but Washington’s chances to make the playoffs decline drastically with Kristaps Porzingis instead of Bradley Beal.
This trade proposal with the Dallas Mavericks really does nothing but make the Washington Wizards worse, which is why this is not a smart trade for them. The Wizards will be looking to make trades this offseason and will be a team to watch in NBA trade rumors, but they will be looking to add talent instead of dispose of it.
