Collin Sexton is a long-term building block
If you look at the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster, there isn’t much to be excited about long-term. Anthony Davis will be the face of the franchise once LeBron James moves on, but there isn’t much else that would be considered a building block for the franchise outside Talen Horton-Tucker. Collin Sexton would change that.
Sexton is only 22-years old and would be a long-term building block for the Lakers’ foundation alongside Davis. James-led teams are always in win-now mode, but Los Angeles also has to have an eye on the future, as well.
LeBron James won’t play forever and there have to be some contingency plans in place for when he does hang it up.
When James leaves a franchise, they are usually in shambles. It has happened to the Cavaliers twice in the last 11 years, as they were contenders with James and lottery-bound every season without him.

The Lakers do not want to be stuck in a position similar to that, having Davis by himself on a barren roster without many avenues to improve.
