Kristaps Porzingis

If the Brooklyn Nets are unable to do a sign-and-trade with Spencer Dinwiddie, they will have to get creative in adding to their roster. If they want to take a big swing, they could try and land Kristaps Porzingis from the Dallas Mavericks.

The Nets could offer Dallas DeAndre Jordan, Joe Harris and their 2021 first-round draft pick to Dallas for Porzingis. While acquiring Kristaps Porzingis would be extremely risky, he would certainly be motivated by being back in New York with the possibility to stick it to the New York Knicks.

The most glaring issue with acquiring Porzingis would be the defensive end. The Nets are already not a good defensive team and adding Porzingis to that equation won’t make them much better. He would provide some rim protection, but that is a role that Kevin Durant has also been good in.

But, the Nets have to do something with Jordan. They cannot have a $10 million player sitting on their bench, as that money could be better used elsewhere. Finding a landing spot for him would be difficult as well, so if the Mavericks really want to move on from Kristaps Porzingis that badly, the numbers work on that swap.

Brooklyn would be locked in for the foreseeable future with a core of Durant, Harden, Irving and Porzingins. It is a formidable quartet that the rest of the NBA would definitely find challenges in slowing down.
