The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the teams that are reportedly interested in signing Spencer Dinwiddie this offseason. They do not have any cap space to use, so if Dinwiddie wants to play for the Lakers and get paid, this presents another sign-and-trade opportunity with Kyle Kuzma being the centerpiece.

The Lakers and Brooklyn Nets reportedly had a discussion before the NBA trade deadline about a swap centered around Kuzma and Dinwiddie.

Many teams were interested in trading for Dinwiddie, as they would have retained his Bird Rights and been able to go over the salary cap to re-sign him.

For the Nets, Kyle Kuzma represents a solid piece for their second unit. We have seen what he can do when given extended playing time, so they know he can play. He would be a solid addition to the bench if they are unable to retain Blake Griffin or Jeff Green, two key cogs in their frontcourt rotation.

While Kyle Kuzma is best known for his scoring, he is an improving defender. He also has experience from the Lakers run to the NBA Finals in the Orlando Bubble, so the high expectations with the Nets shouldn’t bother him.
