Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
This trade idea might not excite fans as much as it could. The Orlando Magic currently hold the No. 5 and No. 8 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and sending them both away in a trade for Ben Simmons seems like a lot. As a result, the Magic would send just the No. 5 selection.
The front office of the Magic will have to decide how much they value Simmons and what changes they believe he can make to the organization.
It is clear that teams need stars to win in this league. Simmons was once viewed as that type of player. He is an All-Star caliber guard that received a max contract from the 76ers. He has been a player that can do it all on the floor but his scoring prowess has taken a huge step back recently.
With that being said, a change of scenery could be good for a player like Simmons to get his mind right. There will not be as much pressure in Orlando and he would be able to develop further on the offensive end of the floor.

Ultimately, this trade will come down toward the front office wants to give away for Simmons. If they are okay with parting ways with the No. 5 pick, this is a deal that could be on their radar moving forward.
