Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
When looking at the return of this deal, the Philadelphia 76ers seem like the winners on paper. Ben Simmons has potentially played his last game in Philly and that would not be surprising.
The 76ers were eliminated in seven games by the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Simmons was a non-factor throughout the series and this has fans in an uproar.
When looking at the return, it is easy to get excited about if you are a 76ers fan. Markelle Fultz looks like a bit of a different player than he was during his early years in the league. Terrence Ross is a strong bench piece that can score and light it up from deep and Mo Bamba would help, too.
The true intrigue is the No. 5 pick of the 2021 NBA Draft. This would allow the Sixers to add another intriguing member to their core group alongside Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris. Based on the landscape, a wing player would likely be the pick.

This is a deep draft and the 76ers have a chance to get to the top prospects if they could land a trade such as this one. If Simmons is the only piece they are giving up, this deal is a no-brainer for Daryl Morey.
