Much-needed offensive firepower

The Miami Heat have a good foundation in place with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. However, while both do provide plenty of offense for the Heat, both players do their best work on the defensive side of the ball. Adding a player of Damian Lillard’s caliber would bring some much-needed offensive firepower to the team.

Too often the Heat’s offense would stall out in the halfcourt because they didn’t have players that could consistently create offense.

Lillard is a problem for opposing defenses right as he crosses over halfcourt, as he is arguably the best long-distance 3-point shooter in the NBA. He has numerous long-distance highlights to his credit, some of which came during the postseason.

Having Lillard would also take pressure off of the team pushing Adebayo to score the ball more. He is better served to be a third or fourth option on a contending team, not the second and sometimes first option the Heat were relying on him to be.

The impact that Dame would have individually is big, but he would also help his teammates improve. With defenses keying in and throwing double teams at him, others will have plenty of clean looks to take advantage of.
