Does this trade make sense for the LA Clippers?
This all depends on if the Los Angeles Clippers want to blow things up in the offseason. After two years of their new regime, there are still no championships. Kawhi Leonard has previously mentioned entering NBA free agency in the offseason but this seems like more of a business move to renegotiate the contract.
There are some factors to take into consideration when evaluating what Leonard could decide to do. Of course, he grew up in California and going back home was quite appealing to him. However, what if he were to depart to team up with a superstar he felt he could win a title with?
If Leonard were to depart, the priority would need to shift for the Clippers. The Western Conference is too loaded to try to get by doing patchwork additions to the roster. Paul George is signed to a long-term deal and capitalizing on his trade value would be ideal.
When looking at the return, it is a lot to turn down. Collin Sexton would improve the point-guard position, which is something that the Clippers have tried to address in many ways. They would also get the third pick in the draft where they could potentially land a starting-caliber guard such as Jalen Green or Jalen Suggs.

It has been a disappointing two years in Los Angeles when you look at an early exit last year in the entry to let her this time around. If the front office is patient, then they might decide to keep things the way they are but it could certainly be a situation to keep an eye on.
