Does this trade make sense for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
The Cleveland Cavaliers would be getting the best player in this deal and that is an immediate benefit. They have been building through the draft and so far, that has not worked. Sexton has looked like a promising young talent but there have been alleged locker room problems that have caused some separation within the team.
If this is true, it would benefit the Cavs to get him out of the situation. Paul George is a true star to build around. When Leonard was sidelined with an injury, George took over and put up some huge performances that carried the Clippers to the conference finals.
This is not to say that this would be the move that gets Cleveland back to the championship, but it is one that would improve their star power.
The Cavaliers have already moved some veterans, such as Andre Drummond, and Kevin Love could be next. George would take over as a leader on and off the floor in a way to build a more impactful team in the Eastern Conference.

This is a chance for the Cavaliers to become relevant in a top-heavy Eastern Conference. It does not take much for a team to sneak into the playoffs and it would be a big step moving forward for a rebuilding franchise.
