Does this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?
The Dallas Mavericks initially brought Kristaps Porzingis to town in hopes of building a duo with Luka Doncic. This seemed to be working since the team returned to the playoffs in each of the last two seasons and it has in terms of the team being able to field a potent offense.
Apparently, it is not working as well as the team would have hoped overall. NBA trade rumors have been put aside but Porzingis might not be happy with the current situation in Dallas. This is nothing new. Porzingis was unhappy with the New York Knicks during his time there and eventually requested a trade.
We could see this happen again very soon. It would benefit the Mavericks greatly to send away a disgruntled player like Porzingis. If Pascal Siakam is the return in a trade, this is a deal to pull the trigger on.
Siakam has taken huge steps forward over the last few years. He is an elite player in the post that can get it done from all over the floor on the offensive end. In Dallas, Siakam would fit well next to Doncic because he can step out and shoot or perform down low. This would give the Mavericks plenty of options on that side of the floor.

With a team like Dallas that is looking to take the next step, they need players that are going to contribute in a positive way. If that is not Porzingis, they need to send him away while value is still high.
