Step Three: Improve the shooting on the roster
Finding a viable option at point guard and the next step on the list can somewhat go hand-in-hand. It is well-documented that the shooting on the Los Angeles Lakers leaves a lot to be desired.
There are multiple guys like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Alex Caruso, Markieff Morris, and Wesley Matthews that could catch fire in certain moments.
None of them showed enough consistency in 2020-21 to warrant bringing them back as go-to guys on the perimeter next season. Los Angeles finished 21st in the NBA in three-point efficiency this season, and in today’s league, shooting is needed to keep defenses honest.
And when you have two players in LeBron James and Anthony Davis, defenses are keying in on both of them, which can put the other members of the roster in spots to knock down open shots.
