Step Two: Find a viable point guard
Last offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers conducted a trade for Schroder in hopes he could be the answer at their vacant point guard position. Throughout the regular season, he was a solid contributor with 15.4 points and 5.8 assists per game.
However, in the playoffs against Phoenix, Schroder would struggle as he compiled 14.3 points and 2.8 assists per game while shooting a dismal 30.8 percent from outside. The German point guard is an unrestricted free agent and it remains to be seen if either side is interested in a reunion this offseason.
In the event that Dennis Schroder leaves, the Lakers need to find a viable point guard that meshes well with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
A point guard that can be productive in catch-and-shoot situations, facilitate the ball, and play stout defense is what Los Angeles is looking for. There were shortcomings in these key areas that ended up proving to be costly for the Lakers.

Being able to add a point guard that fits the description of what they are looking for would be a major step in the right direction for the Lakers.
