Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are going to be super aggressive in their pursuit of adding All-Star-level talents this offseason, as they will be in the sweepstakes for guys like Damian Lillard and Kawhi Leonard, but if they miss out on both of these superstars, trading for a guy like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander makes a lot of sense.

The Heat would likely have to part ways with Tyler Herro and maybe even a draft pick or two, but Gilgeous-Alexander could help form a formidable trio with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. He can score at all three-levels offensively, he can handle the basketball, but most importantly, he would take a tremendous amount of stress off of Jimmy Butler.

Right now, the Heat have a really solid team that made it to the NBA Finals in 2020, but it still feels like they are missing something. Butler does everything for this team and Adebayo is a great complimentary player, but the guard position has seen inconsistent play over the years.

Given his abilities to be a combo-guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the perfect mold of player the Miami Heat should be searching for this offseason. Plus, he is only 22-years-old, about to turn 23, which means the Heat can build with him for a foreseeable future next to both Butler and Adebayo.

The Heat are going to be looking for ways to improve their roster in the offseason and while they love what Tyler Herro can do for them moving forward, they are in a “win-now” mode, which is why they should look to leverage him.

Gilgeous-Alexander gives the Heat immediate production at the guard position for the Heat, which will instantly make them threats again in the Eastern Conference. They may not have the draft capital to give the Thunder a ton of draft picks, but with young talents like Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn and Precious Achiuwa, they could easily put together an intriguing offer in attempts to land Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
