Does this trade make sense for the Charlotte Hornets?
The Charlotte Hornets hope they are moving in a different direction of their rebuild. After adding LaMelo Ball, the difference in the team was obvious and it led them to a more successful season. Now, it is time to put the right pieces around their point guard in hopes of taking the next step in the Eastern Conference.
The Eastern Conference was extremely top-heavy this past season. There were plenty of teams near the bottom that could have made a move in the right of them. They ended up having a quick exit from the play-in games and that is something they are trying to avoid moving forward.
In order to get to series play, they need to balance the lineup on both ends. A Christian Wood trade helps that notion right away. He has a strong defender and proved that he can score and rebound at a high rate.
The athleticism of Christian Wood helps on the perimeter as a pick-and-roll option in a fast-pace offense. With LaMelo Ball as the franchise-cornerstone, it’s important to have a big man with the versatility that Wood brings to the table to maximize their unit as a whole.
