Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
It’s going to be a few years before the Houston Rockets move towards contention in the Western Conference. They hold the second pick in this year’s draft and that will go a long way toward their rebuild but there are still plenty of moves that need to be made by the front office.
That means any value that they currently have on the roster could look to be moved in any sort of trade. That is what they have in Christian Wood. He was one of the more intriguing players available last offseason and decided to sign with Houston.
Wood showed why there was a lot of interest in him by putting up big numbers all season long. He is a two-way big with plenty of value and that would help the Rockets in a trade. However, there is a chance Houston takes Evan Mobley with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and would gain a more dynamic option.
Adding PJ Washington and another pick, which would be their fourth in this year’s first round, would continue to build assets. The Rockets could move some draft picks in a deal for star or add four players to develop moving forward.

If Christian Wood is not viewed as a future piece for the franchise, it would benefit them to move him right away. The new front office for the Rockets came in last year and made some big moves and they can continue to do so this offseason.
