There is one NBA team that has needed a point guard for a long time now. The New York Knicks have been without an elite point guard since the days of Walt “Clyde” Frazier, it feels. After a successful season, the front office in New York should be extremely aggressive to complete the lineup.
The Knicks were expected to be back near the bottom of the Eastern Conference this season but they ended up as the fourth seed. Tom Thibodeau led the Knicks to 41 wins in his first year as head coach. Thibodeau was also named Coach of the Year.
New York displayed an elite defense during the regular season but was exposed by the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs. This showed that Julius Randle and RJ Barrett are not enough by themselves. The Knicks will have to make a deal involving a big-name player to be taken seriously as title contenders.
New York has some draft capital to move this year. When picks are involved, the Oklahoma City Thunder will always have ears open. Sam Presti has loaded up on picks in recent years with deals involving players like Russell Westbrook and Paul George.

After moving Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns, the Thunder returned to the bottom of the standings. They might not be done unloading some big names and it could continue with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The Knicks have to be aggressive this offseason and land some players that they have missed on in the past. Here is a deal that could get them a franchise point guard for the future.
