Target: G Jarrett Culver (Minnesota Timberwolves)

The Phoenix Suns roster is fine as it is right now and they could very much win their first ever championship this season, but a guy that would make sense for them to target in the offseason is Jarrett Culver from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 22-year-old guard was drafted 6th overall by Minnesota in 2019, yet he has barely played for them due to injuries. He only played in 34 games this year due to ankle injuries, but his Per 36 Minutes stats actually make Culver look like a reliable bench player. He averaged 13.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals and shot 41.1% from the floor per 36 minutes this season.

Standing about 6’6”, Culver has the length to potentially turn into a great perimeter defender and he has the athleticism to make a difference off-the-ball in Phoenix. Not to mention, his price will likely be low this offseason since it has been speculated that the Timberwolves will be looking to move on from him.

If these rumors are true, the Phoenix Suns could potentially get Jarrett Culver for a future draft pick, which is definitely worth the risk of investment. He is still on a rookie contract through the 2022-23 season with team options every year of his remaining contract, which is why the Suns should target him.

The worst thing that happens is that Jarrett Culver continues to be a bust and never finds a role in Phoenix, but his “boom” potential is huge given that he is a former Top-10 pick.

The Phoenix Suns have a highly talented roster already and they will likely bring everybody back in the offseason from this year’s roster, so there is really no risk trading for a young, athletic player like Jarrett Culver.
